Individually tailored grinding solutions
A grinding wheel is a highly specialised tool which is specifically developed by ATLANTIC GmbH tailoredto customer requirements and manufactured in accordance with applicable standards. These grinding wheels have a rotationally symmetrical body with a hole in the middle. This is used to seat the wheel in a clamping flange.
Grinding wheels are made from abrasive, synthetically produced grinding materials, which are held in the grinding wheel matrix by suitable bonding agents.
Conventional abrasive materials used include aluminium oxide and silicon carbide. There are also so-called ultra-hard materials, such as cubic boron nitride (CBN) and synthetically produced diamond. Synthetic resin or vitrified bonds are predominantly used as a bonding agent for conventional grinding wheels. In contrast, metal and galvanic bonds are used exclusively for ultra-hard abrasive materials.
The grinding wheel is fundamentally composed of three components, namely the abrasive grain, the bond and the pores. In addition, there are also a variety of fillers and additives available. These can be useful for producing the grinding wheel and for improving specific properties such as rigidity, heat resistance and durability.
Examples of the possible areas of application include round, face, ball and camshaft grinding. For more information about grinding wheels and their area of application, please visit our website at www.atlantic-grinding-wheels.com.
